A unique architectural design
I. Lower layer
- Built with 24 wooden brackets, forming an octagonal shape
- Includes symbols of love for nature, farming, fishing, and reading
- Decorated with Eight Immortals (famous figures from Chinese mythology).
II. Upper layer
- Uses 16 wooden brackets, leading to the center
- The center has a carved lotus flower, symbolizing peace and beauty
- The structure looks like a spider web, so craftsman call it “Spider Web Ceiling”
Hidden Carving: Lions & Toads
Under the ceiling, the four corners feature lion statues, each showing different expressions and poses. Moreover, two wooden toads represent success and long life.

The functions are to keep the room cool and prevent dust from falling. Also make the temple look more grand and elegant.
2. Who designed and built the cassion ceiling?
It was designed by a master craftsman 王樹發 and built by skilled workers form Quanzhou, China.
3. What make the cassion ceiling unique?
It has two layers, which about lower layer and upper layer.
